  1. GENERAL *********************************************************************

  3. WIT (Windows (medical) Image Tool) is an application to read various formats
  4. (currently Interfile) of images that the medical community is using.
  5.  
  6. The present version (V 0.42) is a veryyyyyy pre-release.  You should be able
  7. view various statics and multiframe studys.  Multiframe studies are presently
  8. viewed as a "flat cine" - all frames layed out - when first loaded.  Cine
  9. is operational, but only in the original matrix size at this time.
  10.  
  11. As with all Windows 3.x programs, take care of your memory allocations.  That
  12. is, you might have problems with several applications opened when you are
  13. reading in images - especially big ones.
  14.  
  15. When loading an image file (Interfile in this version), you can change the
  16. index info prior to accepting the file for display.  IF you do, it will be the
  17. parameters that WIT will use in the creating all that is required to display.
  18. A simple example of this is to change the "Endian" from LITTLE to BIG (this
  19. will only apply to 2 byte/pixel images).

  21. This is the 4th release.  Version changes can be viewed in the file
  22. called "VERSION.HST".

  29. Just keep all the file together in the same directory and add a new program
  30. under Windows.

  32. When you first start WIT, you might want to set the default directory for
  33. your interfile files (under the "File" menu item).

  36. SPECIFICS *******************************************************************
  37.  
  38. You must stop the cine if you want to change frames 1 by 1.
  39.  
  40. Cine rate is adjustable between approx. 16.66 frames/sec. <-> .96 frames/sec.
  41. This is the highest rate if you have a display type with a driver that
  42. Windows can make a device-dependent bitmap from.  Otherwise, it will be
  43. slower.

  45. The intensity tool can be made visible, but is not functional at this time.

  47. No adaquate help file is available yet - such is the tradeoff of something
  48. for nothing!

  50. Total # of images you can load depends on total image size (X, Y, Z), byte
  51. or word, your system specs....

  53. The "Size and Frames" from the file loading list is not available at this
  54. time.

  56. Some of the different Interfile files will generate alignment problems in the
  57. file list.  The problem and fix is known, it was just given a lower 
  58. priority.  (The most simple things take the longest)

  60. If you get an "error" message as you puruse through your directories, it is
  61. not really an error.  It just says that the scan routine was not able to
  62. handle that file properly.  This can be avoided (at least for the most part)
  63. by setting the scan control to "Manual", then change to your desired
  64. directory.
